Rummu Bog Snowshoe Hike for Nature-Minded Hikers – with a Nature Guide
Come and discover the mystery of Rummu Bog on snowshoes — it’s the kind of hike where your feet don’t sink in (too much), but your laughter and sense of discovery definitely do. 😄
Together with a nature guide, we’ll travel through different “life stages” of the bog: we’ll see how the landscape changes as the bog develops, why a bog is like a giant natural water filter, and how plants and animals get along here (spoiler: nobody asks “are you related to me?” — it’s all about the ecosystem). We’ll learn to notice bog life, talk about species relationships, and explore why Rummu Bog is something worth protecting — and how to do it in a way that doesn’t get us “cancelled” by the bog on social media later. 😉
We’ll walk about 1.5 km on snowshoes in the bog, and the total hike is 4–5 km — just right for moving the body and letting the mind breathe. The hike runs in nature and by pre-booking. The pace is calm, with stops for observation and small “aha!” moments.
Depending on the season, the bog might surprise you with wide-open views, a soft moss carpet, cranberries and heather, the delicate work of insects, or fresh tracks in the snow. (And yes — you’ll get photos, because the bog is more photogenic than most of us on a Monday morning.)
This hike suits families with children, groups of friends, and is also a great motivation boost for work teams. Pets are welcome too — as long as they know how to behave politely in nature. The service is marked with the EHE label and highlighted as a EUROPARC direction, meaning these stories are genuinely worth telling.
Good to know: we follow the Snowshoe Tourism Code of Good Practice — in protected bog areas, snowshoe hikes are not held from 23 April to 24 June. If you don’t have snowshoes, let us know when booking — we’ll find a solution.
Dress in layers, bring a warm drink and your curiosity — the bog will take care of the rest: quiet, space, and that feeling of being completely “out of it”… in the best possible way.
Bonus: you’ll learn snowshoe-walking tips, bog “etiquette” (where to step — and where not to), and why protecting bogs also means protecting clean water and biodiversity. Meeting point will be confirmed when booking. 🙂🙂
