REPUBLIC HIKE to Viru Bog – 23 Feb 2026

Ahead of Estonia’s Republic Day, we’ll do a relaxed and enjoyable bog hike: panoramic views from the observation tower, a safe route between pools and hummocks, and a cozy break on a bog island. We’ll also explore the bog’s tiny world with a phone-mounted microscope. 🔬📱

Snowshoe distance: 1.5–2 km
Break: on a bog island

Suitable from age 8+. For younger children, we’ll consult and decide together based on physical ability.

Each year, around ~2,500 people (incl. children and youth) visit bogs and wetlands with us.

🌿 What will we do on the hike?

• Climb / enjoy views from the Viru Bog observation tower (a real “wow” spot)

• Observe bog lakes, pools, and bog plants — why a bog is like a living science lab

• Use NutiAkadeemia phone-mounted microscopes: you can take photos and videos of the bog’s micro-world (plants, mosses, water surface details, etc.) 🔬📱

• Walk at a safe, comfortable pace — a bog is not a place to rush

💶 Prices (choose a package)

• 1–2 adults: €80 per person

• 3–4 adults: €50 per person

• 5–9 adults: €40 per person

• 10+ adults: €35 per person

• Children 8–12: -50%

• Multiple groups (25+ people total): -10%

🐺 Cartwheel on snowshoes: -30% (only safely and with the guide’s permission — the bog doesn’t love heroes 😄)

🧾 Booking & payment
📌 A €20 booking fee must be paid online before 22.02.2026.
The booking fee is non-refundable if you do not show up on 21.02.2026 without a valid reason.
💳 The remaining balance must be paid before the hike starts, either by invoice or in cash on site.

🎒 What to bring

• Weather-appropriate clothing (layers + wind/rain protection)

• Waterproof hiking boots (there’s always “a bit of water” in a bog)

• If your shoe size is larger than 45, please let us know when booking

• Optional: thermos/cup (tea is provided — your own cup is a nice bonus)
